"Snow Canyon Tapestry" Located outside St. George, Utah, Snow Canyon State Park has outcroppings of black lava rock set amid the cliffs of red and white sandstone.  My notes that day: "Cold, high 58, low 42. Overcast."  The overcast conditions allowed me to paint for 5 hours (no shifting shadows), and the colors appeared more saturated without the washout effect from sunlight. I painted this from the north entrance. March 2018
