"Sunset Illumination, Zion" was painted behind the Bumbleberry Inn in Springdale, Utah in March 2015. Somehow this painting got overlooked and languished in a stack, not photographed and posted. 

Each March for five years I have attended Chuck Kovacic's Plein Air RoundUp. In 2015 he initiated a 'sunset challenge' to paint the illuminated rock ridge behind the Bumbleberry Inn where we lodge.  I just returned from the 2017 Plein Air RoundUp. While looking through my earlier 'sunset challenge' paintings, I realized this year's panel is the bottom view of a vertical section of this rock ridge. Last year's panel (languishing in an unfinished pile) is the top view. This 2015 panel occupies the center. How curious I would pick the same section at different elevations three years in a row.
