The Strawberry Moon is a June moon. I often paint this east ridge of Kagel Canyon from the Fire Station in Dexter Park. Same ridge, new conditions. When I see scattered clouds at sunset, it usually bodes well for interesting color and cloud patterns. The most surprising color this time was that luminescent citron below the purple bottom of the cloud. The saturated sunset colors of the sandstone ridge enhanced that glorious sky. Painting "plein air" (on-site outside) is the best; the fast-changing light conditions compels one to paint fast. June 2016
