I painted this rock and pine composition last March in Zion during the Plein Air Round Up, organized by Chuck Kovacic. What appealed to me was the sheer mass of rock, the persistent pines and desert vegetation that cling to life on available shelves, and the variety of greens against red rock. It's title is "Shelf Life." March 2016 This painting was revised with the addition of Desert Bighorn Sheep in March 2019.
