This stone ruin is in Valyermo, CA. I have passed it many times, considering it a good painting subject. This past fall I drove past it in the morning and afternoon checking the light and shadows. I settled on this viewpoint from Fort Tejon Road by Palette Creek Road with the morning light behind and flooding the structure. I did a quick watercolor study. Pleased with the composition I returned the following morning to do a plein air oil.
