Turban Talk

"Turban Talk" I chose these turban squash along with pumpkins and Indian corn from a local farm stand in the Fall of 2014. I was determined to use the turban squash in a still life. I had an idea. My neighbor has displayed these 'pose-able' French dolls for years. I asked to borrow them for models: their 'turbans' are colorful and their wheat-filled bodies provide whimsical poses. First I did some thumbnail sketches followed by a watercolor of the proposed composition.  It was a fun still life to set up and paint.  French Doll Series #1. 2015
