Thursdays En Plein Air recently met at the Renaissance Faire in Irwindale. The Faire is closed during the week which allowed us to set up and paint without distraction by or hazard to Faire-goers. Four costumed participants posed for us. I chose to paint Fred who was playing his many different wooden flutes and recorders, each one a beautiful instrument. He played one after another, removing them from his basket cart, each one wrapped in a colorful textile. His wife, Joyce, also a musician and a plein air painter, organized this paint out for us. I don't often paint genre, but it was an opportunity to practice figurative painting while listening to wonderful music.
